This June, to celebrate some major milestones, Laura Erickson and her non-birder husband Russ went to Alaska on a Victor Emanuel tour with Erik Bruhnke as co-leader. They visited Nome, Anchorage, Denali, and Seward. The birding was superb, and Laura has the stories and photos to prove it.
Organized tours are almost always much more expensive than birding on your own or with a more informal group, and with the added cost come disadvantages as well as advantages. As she takes us from place to place, Laura will talk about which parts of the tour hit the ideal balance for both her and her non-birding husband, and which parts she might have wanted to do a bit differently.
