WESTERN GREBE BOAT TOURS FLYER FROM “LET’S GO FISHING ALEXANDRIA LAKES AREA”

Greetings:

Our Alexandria MN “Let’s Go Fishing Alexandria Lakes Area” have started our Western Grebe boat tours last spring (see link below). Minnesota Bound has filmed one of our tours and it will be aired this summer.

The Wester Grebe’s flight is from the west coast to Minnesota to mate, raise their young and then return to the west coast in the fall. Lake Oaskis is one of their favorite nesting areas. Trips started in May last year, however, this all depends on the weather conditions.

We have 10-11 passenger pontoons with ample room for comfortable bird watching and unique photography opportunities. Using our carefully navigated boats we lessen much of the individual boat traffic, eliminating the disturbance of these precious birds yet giving birders ample time for viewing and taking photos.

As coordinator, I book all the outgoing trips during the few weeks the birds are actively mating. Then during nesting, we make plans to observe them again when the little ones are on the parents backs.

We certainly would appreciate your help getting this information out to all the Minnesota Audubon Society organizations.
