About Us

We celebrate 48 years of enjoying birds, educating the public, and protecting habitat in our region. Established in 1972, our mission is to promote education, conservation, and research focused on birds and to preserve and enhance the ecological diversity of the greater Duluth area.

We belong to the Minnesota Environmental Partnership and believe in the power of collaborative grassroots efforts to protect and restore Minnesota’s natural environment. Check our Issues & Actions page to learn how you can make a difference in the lives of birds and other species native to northern Minnesota and in Duluth’s unique urban wilderness.

We meet  the second Thursday of September though May, excluding December.  Check out the Events page for other events by DAS and other organizations.
